Well, Myself as a Modeler, i try to model DRGW right around 1988, Before they got the GP60's. So i'm doing my best. Aswell, this is my first detailing "adventure", so i expect it not to turn out exact.

Well, more than likely the plow on #5324 was the original although only photographic evidence with dates will really nail things down. Give some thought to the plow I mentioned from DW, the PL-342. And let me know what paint you used to match the painted plow to the orange on the loco.

    Updates

Finially, after finishing off the list of things to buy, i've been able to work on her a bit.
I got all the lift rings installed, aswell as Cut bar, and airhose, MU stand and others installed on the rear.

Hope to be done by X-mas!

    Update! 1-5-10

Well, because of the rush of the Hollidays, i was not able to finish, and have still not finished, but i am within a day or so of being done!

As of the 4th, i had all the details on that i was going to use, and all that was left was to paint them, and seal them in. The to weather it later. But ehres a few quick pictures.

Yup, the re-rail frog should hang below the frame. BUT, that's a SHARP looking SD45! One of my favorite EMD products! Thanks for posting photos!!!

Looks 'Grande to me Adam! I have a batch of SD45's in N to do, and I think I might do another in DRGW. I have rerailing frogs in N, but it brings a question:

What units had rerailing frogs onboard like the SD45 Adam detailed?

    Great looking units!!

From what I know, rerail frogs were standard on all units from GP30s to tunnel motors. I do not know if they were delivered this way or not, but do know they were added to the ex conrail units as well.

The following info is from Jim Griffins Action Road.net site under the close up section.

    http://www.actionroad.net/

"Rerail frogs were standard D&RGW practice. This is the later style. On tunnel motors, the engineer-side frog was hung on brackets just behind the leading truck. The frog on the opposite side was hung next to the trailing truck"

"Frogs were phased out during the SP era. Prior to that, there was one on each side of the locomotive, above the trailing truck."

"Rerail frogs were standard D&RGW practice."

"Two styles of frog were used over time; the earlier one resembled a large wedge with a slot in the broad side."

    Hope this helps.

The only photos that I have seen had the frog below the frame. There are photos on the Fallen Flags RR site, they show them only hung below. That's the way I remember them....
