Most of you are aware that there's not much M-K-T stuff left out there, besides the "replant" stuff like the UP herald gray hoppers or the flashy heritage ACe. It seems UP had a "rapid repaint" initiative for any MKT stuff...ALL M-K-T locomotives were repainted by 1992, less than 4 years after the merger. My theory is that it had a lot to do with the color GREEN, but I digress. Anyway, here's a survivor, MKT 2-Bay cement hopper number 505, photographed two days ago in Roanoke, TX.
This one needs therapy! Not a great photo, but I thought this was kinda odd...a MoPac hopper with MKTT reporting marks! I guess UP is even confused by their reporting mark soup.
 Wonderful to see these views! Weathered or not. I'll take these any time, instead of what we suffer today. Ugh. Boxcab E50
There were a lot of MKTT(Missouri Kansas Texas of Texas) grain cars running around at one time most MP buzz saw or just Mopac related with MKTT painted over the MP-CEI ect. Most of the red katy tank cars in the 100300 series were used for lube oil and stores shipments.UP added the 100 in front of the 300 series on all these cars and some were even painted green. But still great pics glad you posted them wish there were more! Has anyone seen the refrigerator cars marked MKT yet?
Last time I was home, all the Katy green I saw was the blind-cab F-unit and cabooses (plus one in Sloan yellow) in rfont of the depot and beside the former offices in downtown Denison. Haven't seen much of Miss Katy out here in the land of Chico......sigh.......
such a fine catch of lost souls still wondering the rails. I hope there are more ! anybody have 2-bays in green?
