Well, I'm looking at maybe switching from HOn30 to HOn3. Part of it that Blackstone engines are very seductive. I really don't have a huge interest in Colorado, but the availablity of good running steam is a draw

On the other hand, HOn30 allows for conversions on N scale power. I've got alot of good chassis available to use. And I could add sound to about three engines for the price of the one Blackstone engine. I've also noticed more available on Shapeways as well.

Either way, it's not a bad time to be a modeler...

Bummer. I like the HOn30 for it's freedom, pure whimsy. HOn3 seems too much connected to Colorado, or even Pennsylvania prototypes, for me.

Yes and no. There were a couple of guys that were modeling the ICRA that posted up stuff in NG&SLG years ago. A lot of the steam running around down there looks like Colorado stuff. They tend to add a reverse headlight to the roof, but that is really it. When I measured my Atlas engines last night, I was surprised to find that very little movement would be needed to get them to run on HOn3 track.

However, I've amassed a lot of N scale trucks for freight cars. They are a lot cheaper than Blackstone trucks. I've also got enough steam mechanisms for a decent fleet of HOn30 lokies to go with the diesels. So staying will be more dollar effective.

What I really need to do is start building something. That would probably help more than anything.

Please finish those two critters you've previously displayed, as HOn30 units! :)

I'm betting the spring honey-do jar is still monopolizing your time!

For the most part. 2 26 foot square patches and one 10 x 20. Almost done with them. I've also logged 1200 miles this week on the road. 800 of that on Monday going from Des Moines to KC then Springfield MO and back to DSM in 14 hours.
