I am planning on building the Gorre and Dephetid as featured in 101 Track Plans for Model Railroaders #17. I am going to do it in N scale using an approximately 3 X 5 area (a 3' section will be added to the left of the layout for increased switching in both towns). This is over a foot wider and longer than the original plan calls for. This should increase my curve radii and decrease the 4.5% grade that was originally needed. The left side of the layout will be the two towns with an interchange track in Gorre and a mine in Daphetid. I was wondering what your thoughts were on the basic plan and how it could be improved. I've been working on the plan in RTS and it is almost done. I'll post it as soon as I can. Thanks in advance, Eric
Darn! I don't have that publication. Is there a place on line where I can see this design? Boxcab E50
I hope this comes through. (First time posting an image to any forum) This is what I have so far. Daphetid is about 5" above Gorre.
Because the lenght of train you will be pulling for this layout is so short, you might not have problems with a 4.5 grade.
The plan shown certainly does have a lot of features from that first G&D layout. You should have plenty of fun with this design. Boxcab E50
