I am planning to build the timesaver switching puzzle as described at http://urbaneagle.com/data/timesaverN.gif

I understand that one needs to move some cars from point A to point B, but what is supposed to go where?

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks,

I had to fix your link so it would work :D

Forgot the second part of it :D

Just about anything you want really. I'm working on an HO switching layout and the basis of my design is the timesaver. The real key to the 'puzzle' element of the timesaver design is the length (in number of car lengths) of each siding. When I have seen this incorporated into layouts, typically the lower track is treated as a mainline/interchange so the operation is normally get cars from the mainline interchange to the spots and then cars on the spots back to the main. Sometimes the main line goes through, sometimes this is the end of the line with a team track on the lower left.

The original John Allen design had no industries on it at all. It was just 5 sidings and 5 switches.

    I hope this helps!
