Today was my lucky day! I caught some of the oldest units on NS (SD9M's) and the newest (SD70M-2's)! [IMG] In fact, one train had some of both units on it! :D

    Pictures soon,,,, [IMG]

The train was # 350.... apparently the power came off of # 134, and had a few units added...

I guess just the SD70M-2's came off of 134.... the rest must have been added in Linwood.

Are the white number boards and roof of the cab a new paitn scheme?

Sort of... it is the new "unibrow" / Horsehead scheme.... Most of the new units and repaints have the white "brow" containing the number boards... see the last batch of SD70M's for reference...

Cab roof is not white... there is/was only one NS unit that has had a white roof, 8706

dang, that numberboard/headlight arrangement will be a pain to model, and will be a detail just waiting to get picked off by fat finger Ed. maybe I need to go back and model more sd40-2's. the new kato mid-production units look nice, but I'm sure they will need modification to NS specs.

I agree with the assessment of the numberboards... if modeled, they would be vulnerable.

I have not seen the new SD40-2's by Kato to see how they'd compare to NS units, but I'm sure someone else has. [IMG]
