Hi Y'all, I'm going to try this post again since I timed out on my last one. Guess I can't type fast enough for this forum!:tb-biggrin: Anyone familiar with the Tomar illuminated switch stand? I have 8 manual turnouts on my layout (along with 6 tortoises) and would like to hook up some type of indicator to let me know the track path. Now I need to walk over to the turnout and check the frog position. These stands look like a solution but I need to know if these are totally self contained (like the Caboose throws) or do I use these lights along with a throw bar or adapter. All I could find on the net doesn't seem to mention if these stands are independent throws. Any help will be appreciated. Joe Rockaway Beach, Missouri Home of the "Wanna Bea RR"
Hi Joe, these Tomar switch stands are really illuminated? I use the Details West Switch stands and make them movable. Wolfgang
Hint: For longer posts type the bulk of your post in Notepad (or other text editor). Then when you post you can just paste the text in, add any smilies, etc. and hit the go button. Provided you save the Notepad text, or at least leave it on Notepad until the post is successfully done, this also guards against the browser/site dropout, where all your carefully crafted words disappear into the ether never to return. (AKA the %&*@# moment.) You can then just start the posting over and copy/paste the bulk of your work back in
Wolfgang, They sure must be. A 1.5 v bulb is included for ypur enjoyment! The lens and target rotate 360 degrees too. I sure would like to see one before shelling out $16 sight unseen. Check out Walther's item #81-851 Joe
Wolfgang has a nice page depicting the how-to for making the details west stands movable. I'll be trying some of these when the time comes, only because I don't think the lighted ones were typical in my era. I've seen the tomar lighted ones, they look nice. But yeah, at $16 each I'd make sure they are what you want.
