I own a reference book that I have found fascinating. It is "Tom's 1938 Register " compiled and Edited by Thomas A. Gloger. It contains tons of information about companies and products in the U.S. in 1938.

Tom sez..."Intended as a reference for Model Railroaders, this book catalogues companies existent in the United States in or near the year 1938, listing their city and state, products they produced, their likely railroad connections, and notes about materials used, indications of company size, or other data that might be informative, educational, or amusing."

Believe me when I say that it is informative and although I do not model that period, I have made use of it in modeling the 1970s and in creating the background for my East Central Indiana HO Railroad. No, I have no interest in Tom's operation other than a very satisfied customer. I do know others who have purchased the book and feel the same way about it as I do. You can find out more at:

I've seen conversations about this publication. Other fellows talking about finding it very helpful.

My time period is circa mid-1960's. Would like to see something similar in print for those years. I've forgotten [IMG] way too much from back then.
