I found this on another forum, this article appeared in the NY times. It seems the last working portion of the NMD is in trouble. BNSF has dropped shipping costs for the farmers, making it tough for the Montana Central.
I understand business and how it works, currently we are a capitalist nation (for now anyway) and only the strong survive, I just hate to see the Montana Central and it's Milwaukee rails go away. I spent many fall days just outside of Denton hunting deer, praire chickens and pheasant with my dad, I have many good memories of that land and it's people.

    The article link is here.

BNSF is being BN/BNSF. This is just their latest attempt to circumvent complaints here in Montana. This is clearly intended to cut the legs out from underneath CMR and the State. I find it fascinating how they can just toss a contract to the wind, when they decide to....

BNSF monopolizes the bulk of State rail served areas. And without direct competition, this is what happens. It was forewarned, when the Milw was trying to exit. It happened, now it's simply getting worse.

    Dean-

I notice your email address was bouncing in a couple of places over the weekend. Hope all is well with you?

It is a privlage working for BNSF, they treat there employees with the same respect they treat this shortline.
