The track work on my small layout is done, but I need to replace my MRC 1300 power supply. Everytime I try to run a loco with a string of cars it kicks out and I need to shut it off for about 20 minutes before it'll work again. DCC is out since I'm 100% steam, but I would appreciate some feedback on what I should upgrade to. One that will allow me to expand sometime in the future. Thanks.
I would check out MRC's other power pack offerings. They have a website. Look at a Model Railroader Magazine for the URL. Not pushing you to DCC but I am about 50% steam and I use DCC. I don't see steam as being a restriction. All of my steam is older brass that I am in the process of changing over to DCC. You can even install sound; although the cost is rather high.
