    All,

Just noticed that Athearn is releasing their GSC flat cars with their new JD tractors in BNSF and Trailer Train yellow scheme. It is my understanding that the prototype for this car was much older and basically out of service by the 80's or early 90's other than MOW service. Is that wrong? Anybody have the prototype years of operation on these? I have the BNSF freight car book and I don't think there is any mention of GSC flats, although there are 60' "farm implement" flats that may be what Athearn is trying to approximate (fudge), even though they don't really look like the GSC's either.

Looks like they would be pretty cool cars so I may get a few regardless of their ConCorian nature.

    Interesting terminology there Doug. ConCorian.

I wish I knew the accurate info for you. I hope there is a prototype for them I've had to up my order twice already.

Thanks George, I learned the fine art of transcending traditionalized schoolarly conventiation (through creation of my own uniqueicated vocabulary) from my other favorite George..."DUBYA" Bush. hehe

George, I don't suppose I would worry much if I were you. I mean, first of all it sounds like you're doing OK with your orders and second...you ARE both a Micro-Trains AND a Con-Cor dealer so Athearn is the least of your worries, and finally I imagine there's only a handful of folks who give a rat's rear-end wether or not there's a prototype or not.

Prototypical or not, those TT yellow flats and modern JD tractors do look pretty cool. IMO Athearn has started to release some nicely detailed and painted modern (60's + to me)cars lately.
