Hi All, Does anyone have any insight as to which train shows will have Z Scale-specific displays or tables? My local show coming up on Dec. 9 in Lebanon, PA isn't guaranteed to have any Z on site (though it might). Just wanting to know where I can go before committing to a small road trip. Thanks, Josh from Philly
If you're willing to travel, Altenbeken, Germany is the place to go. 14. und 15. April 2018 das 7. Internationale Spur - Z - Weekend in Altenbeken Location: sports hall Eggelande, in pastoral Altenbeken, mid Germany. Two days, all Z. Top notch layouts. Z-People from Germany, Netherlands, Belgium, France, Scandinavia, Brits and yes, Americans have been coming these last years. Check YouTube for earlier editions (this event takes place every even year). Cheers, Matt
Interesting, but my while MY desire is strong, my wallet's is not. Will keep this in mind for when I strike it rich, though. Any stateside events?
If a 2 hour drive isn't' too far, The DC Z Bend Track Group will be a the Great Scale Model Train Show In Timonium MD with our modular layout on Apr 14 & 15, 2018. Check out their website http://www.gsmts.com/index.htm The GSMTS shows is the biggest train show in the mid atlantic area. They have displays in just about every scale from Z to G ranging in size from small tabletop displays to huge 100 foot x 50 foot modular layouts including our 30 foot by 40 foot Z scale display. And with 700 plus tables of train and train related items for sale one can usually find a few tables with Z scale items for sale. here is a link to one of their promotional videos If you decide to come bring a few trains and give them a spin around our layout (we run both DC and DCC.) Also There is a chance we might be at the Feb 3-4 2018 show as well, but that has not been confirmed yet.
This looks perfect. I used to live in Baltimore, so it'll give me an excuse to get down there and see old friends. When might you know whether or not you'll be present in February?
I just watched the video; there is also another one worth watching; if you pause the "GSMTS" vid, you should see a line of 3 other videos. Watch the one titled "My Love of Locomotives". A gentleman in England talks about how he scratch builds (mostly) 0 scale locos. It's fascinating. Mark in Oregon
Hi David, Just checking in to see if you'll be in Timonium on February 3rd. Trying to plan out my next few months. -Josh
Hi Josh sorry i completely forgot about this Thread. Unfortunately The DC_Z-Bend_Track Group will Not be at the February show. Too many of our members have scheduling conflicts and can not make it to that show. However we are still planning to be at the Apr 14 & 15 2018. If you do decide to come to the February or April show and would like to meet a fellow Z enthousiast, send me a message or post here as I am planning on going to the February show myself to look for any deals and see what ever layouts are there. David
I don't know how many of the other shows the vendors I'm thinking of go to, but every time I go to the Greenberg show in Edison, NJ there are at least two tables with a substantial Z selection- MTL, Marklin, AZL, and WDW, occasionally some used Pennzee stuff. I've never seen any layouts, but the staff are always friendly and know their regulars on sight.
Hi David, Thanks. Unfortunately, I cannot make it to the April show. Booked all weekend. If I end up coming down next month, I'll let you know. Do you think your layout will be present at the summer show?
Awesome! Good to know. Thanks. That show is actually coming to the 'burbs of Philadelphia next week. So here's hoping there will be come representation.
No we will not be at the summer show. Its held in a smaller But Air Conditioned building, Having to choose between, large layouts and no AC in the Cow Palace or only a couple smaller layouts in the Air conditioned Exhibition Hall. Well the show owners went with the Air Conditioned Exhibition Hall. And after the heat wave (mid 70's) we got the weekend of last Octobers Show (in the cow Palace), i think i can safely say that 100% of the Vendors and clubs that display at that show would agree they made the right choice.
