I just received a phone call from Bob Knight this evening, explaining why he has been absent from the boards lately. Without going into too much detail, Bob has suffered two unimaginable setbacks in his personal life, both of them life-threatening to immediate family. Consequently he has understandably been offline, and honestly does not know when he will be able to return. He's not even sure how or even if TrainCat will continue as a business. He asks that anyone who is owed product or money to please be patient, as he will address all of this when and as he can. Anyone wishing to pass a message to him may do so through me for the time being. Please PM me.
I wish all the best to Bob and his family whatever the problems. He is a first class modeler and has produced some outstanding products. I hope for his swift return to the hobby. Charlie
Lets see your Traincat products. I don't know if Bob will ever see this but if anything we will have a showcase of his legacy.
Man that really bites...hope he and his family can pull through!!! We are all pulling for him. Brian My two pieces of TrainCat products. I wanted to pick-up some stuff in HO, but only time will tell if it happens.
I wanted one of his high tension power line towers just for my desk. I knew I should have gotten one when I saw it. Oh well. Yes, I hope the best for all.
Hello all, Right after the NTS show in Grand Rapids, I came REALLY close to losing my son with him being in a coma for 4.5 weeks. I had almost given up in him coming out of it. I hope you don't mind, but I want what happened to remain private. My son's troubles took an ever bigger toll on my wife and she had a heart attack (her heart had been weakened from her 2 cancer bouts/treatments several years ago) and then a stroke from a blood clot. The heart attack was minor, but the damage the stroke left behind is going to take awhile to see if it is permanent or temporary. Working a full day then running to two different hospitals and doing what was needed for the house, I was just overwhelmed. Something had to give and that was TrainCat. Hindsite being 20/20, I should have posted something on my websites, but I found myself rapidly shutting down, not wanting to deal with such trivial things as train models when my wife and son were suffering. It's hard to explain (and maybe I should see a shrink) just how depressed I became. I have been struggling to keep my sanity with things getting even worse, but I am trying to get back into things. The order site will be down until the 1st week of Feb when it will be back up. I had made arrangements back in Sept with PayPal for all refund of any monies from orders to be non-contested that were in the alloted window. Many people did not ask for refunds and their orders will be filled before any new ones are received. I will post a special email address around Feb 1st for these people to get their merchandise. NO ONE WILL BE DENIED OF MERCHANDISE. For those people that did request refunds and cancelled their orders, I do not blame you at all for being upset with the circumstances without an explanation. I only ask that you contact me by the new email address in Feb to tell me if you want the order permanently cancelled, or you want to reactivate it. If you choose the latter, I will be including a token of appreciation. If not, I truly am sorry for causing you the troubles you had to go through. I have decided to attend the Amhearst show in Springfield for the purpose of being available to straighten out this situation with my customers. You will be able to find me in the Better Living bldg against the north wall. I have also borrowed a flak jacket for the incoming rounds that I know will be fired in my direction. Again, thank you all . . . .
Hi Bob Its good to hear from you . I did not cancel my order, I decided that I would simply write it off as I knew you were in need. I'm in no hurry to get the order so don't worry about that . I met your familiy at various train shows and I am hopeful that things will work out for your family. Perhaps I will see you at the big E. Randy
Bob, Sorry to hear about your situation. But I am glad to hear that TrainCat will be back up and running! Thanks for keeping it going!
No flak jacket necessary, Bob. I think we all knew it had to be something really serious, and you certainly have my sympathies. I will wait patiently, as I'm sure will most others. You will be in my prayers. And thank you for taking the time to communicate with us.
In my opinion, anyone who would require you to wear "protection" doesn't need to be a customer. Take care of family and yourself first. The rest of the world can wait.
