Who says insurance is preventing steam from running? The Ohio Central has just announced "Steamfest 2004" to take place at the end of July and early August in Ohio. :D

They claim three mainline steamers, which of course would include their 4-8-4 6325. On the site, the Pere Marquette 1225 has announced that it will be there. I'm guessing the third will be Nickel Plate 765 on it's first outing after overhaul.
The 261 will be running as part of the "Grand Excursion" featuring river boats and other attractions in late June and early July.
UP 3985 is running to the Super Bowl. [IMG]
Looks like it will be a good year. 4449 supposed to run through Montana in the fall.

Perhaps I'm confusing myself... I thought that they were among those operations discontinuing steam due to the costs? Or, what RR am I thinking of in roughly that area?

    ???

Ken, the Ohio Central ran steam almost every day as part of their revenue operations. THAT's what they discontinued. They have held a few photographer's specials with the 6325 and 1293 which have gotten rave revues by all who attended. Unfortunately I wasn't one of them. :(
I don't want to miss THIS one. [IMG]

I hope so. The choices are mind boggling and my budget (unlike government) is limited. :(
