Being from SoCal...home of lots of hazy, smoggy skies...seeing cumulus clouds...clearly... was a bit of a rarity...got lucky this day...approximately 22yrs ago...this shot of a SP mixed manifest...heading RR east (southbound), near Glendale, Ca

Clouds can surely make a picture outstanding. One nice thing about where I live. The skies are a vivid blue. And clouds can make a person just stand there, staring. I'd love to catch a train at sunset some time. With the yellows, oranges, and reds we see. Would be neat!

Nice shots Thom...I think...from my brief indoctrination into weather info...while I was in the USAF...are Stratus clouds....I am filled with lots of useless information!

    How about man-made clouds:

    And some natural ones:

I am no expert on clouds, but these look good to me.

Puffy clouds, little flowers, and big steel thundering by. What could be better? :)

These are some of the funniest looking trains I ever saw, but the clouds are nice. Cancun or Cozumel 1986. Original has cuts up on top and I can't find the negs. Sorry for the off topic post, I just like this shot.

SSW 9404 and 8650 run elephant style as they pull a MTY double stack train east.

This is the opposite shot of the same train, looking north (timetable west) of the other T7 shot:

Almost an afterthought, and hair too early--the trailing unit's nose is still in a shadow!

    But it has clouds!
