Tree planting has taken place around the lumber mill on the Andersley Western railroad Before: After: I think I will need to add some undergrowth around some of the trees, to fill in the bottom a bit. Now I have to add all sorts of details in, on and around the buildings.
Paul, the trees are a plant called "sea fern" I think. I bought them two years ago at Warley Model Railway Exhibition. They were dipped in diluted PVA glue, and rolled in a tub of mixed Woodland Scenics ground foam, to add some foliage. I liked the look of them, as they have a nice "see-through" effect.
Alan, the scene looks great!. I just recently saw your "How To" on laying the of the cement area at your servicing facility at Boylerwerks.com....what a difference a few trees make. Mike
I hadn't thought of that. I have been spraying with hair spray and sprinkling with foam ... very messy! Thanks Alan
Alan, That scene is really looking great. The trees really brought it to life. Also, that's a good tip about using the PVA glue on the trees. Thanks.
Alan, have you ever had the pleasure of seeing Harry Clark's lumber mills and his homemade trees? He is featured in one of Alan Keller's videos. I had the pleasure of seeing his layout twice as he is a good friend of my cousin Peter. You have never seen anything like what this man created. Wow. PS Your trees and mill look great too!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hey Alan, nice looking trees there my friend, also a very good looking layout. Looking forward to our next meeting soon. Paul
So did I - isn't Elmer a cow or bull or something? Anyway, I went to www.elmers.com and found this: Q: I have a milk allergy, are your products safe for me to use? A: Our products are derived from synthetic materials, not any type of animal or milk protein. Learn something new everyday!
