I am being asked to produce some Truc-Train equipment in N scale, but know little about it. Does anyone have, or know of photos or other information on them, please?

    Thanks in advance.

    Alan,

Pull up the TTX 471108 (F39c)photo links on the web page link below for some great detail of the TrucTrain flats.

The 'Keystone Crossing' web site has some pictures of the actual Truck trailers which were used by PRR.

PS: Just a thought...I would like about 20 of the cars myself! Would look good behind my PRR steam.

Thanks Eddie, I have those photos from one of the links Dwight posted above.

I looked down several other photos on the page, there are some really interesting cars from the early days!

I will reserve you 20 cars, then :D

    Alan,
Some real TrucTrain cars would be great. I have several of the Atlas flat cars with PRR 'TrucTrain' trailers...PRR TrucTrain circle logo. The flat car was just that..a flat with no details of the true TrucTrain cars.
The TrucTrain cars were started in the mid 1950's and were used up into the 1970 PennCentral days. I have photos of the different trailer markings and logos covering those years...even the 'PC' for PennCentral. They fit the steam to diesel years.

    ....hummmm, another project?

Eddie, any chance of sending me some of those photos? Could be very helpful, as it seems I will be doing these cars! (And trucks).

    Alan,

I have the Truc Train trailer photos scanned. I did the best that my poor little scanner would do, I wished for better quality.
I don't think I can display the photos here on the forum, due to copyrights. ??
I can surly E-mail them to you. There are 8 photos in all dating from around 1958 thru 1972.
They show trailers of 39'-6" and 39'-5" length,
    2089 cu.ft. and 2630 cu.ft.

I've E-mailed them to you at the E-mail address found on your Web site.

I have a package together for a manufacturer... buuilder photos of the F30d flats, numerous trailer photos, etc. But the anticipated builder decided to retire!

Bowser is not interested. (They did the F30 in HO.)

Flat should be done in metal for weight and durability.

Wow...longest time elapsed till reply on post.

BLW is now selling the Atlas TrucTrain trailers and flats. I almost bought 10 of the PRR's and do some kit bashing. Decided I had enough projects for the moment to take on another.

Glad to see the TrucTrain idea is still alive.

The problem with the Atlas offering is that the circle TrucTrain logo wasn't used until the early 1960's. And by then, very few of the 50' F30d flats were in use. The longer F39 flats (two trailers) started arriving in December 1954 and were favored, though some of the F30d's lasted for quite a while. Just uncommon.

I'm looking to produce models that represent TrucTrain service at the outset... June 1954. So, we need F30d flats and 24-26' trailers with rounded fronts, single axle, curb side door, and appropriate lettering.

Alan Curtis is the manufacturer that decided not to pursue this project.
