Trying to decypher TTX's system for classification of their intermodal wellcars, I believe that 1st alphabetic Manufacturer: T= Thrall, R = Trinity, N = NSC, J = FCA, L = leased car [different builder, LEA cars do not always follow subsequent alplabetic and/or numeric coding] 2nd alphabetic Body type: W = d/stack wellcar 3rd alphabetic lading type: G = CoFC, A = All purpose, F = ?, H = ?, no 3rd letter = ? 1st numeric Consist wells number: 1 = single car, 3 = 3 car, 4 = 4 car, 5 = 5 car 2nd numeric Lower Well length [but not always specific - see roster]: 0 = 48’, 2 = 40’, 3 = 53’ Suffix alphabetic: P = prototype, A to L = batch, M = modified, N = ?, S = ?, F [when not batch #] = ? so NWG33A was and is the second batch of National Steel Car 53' 3-car container only d/stack cars. Can anyone help with the missing classifications above? Thank you. Peter Peter Harris N Scale Kits www.nscalekits.com
