OK, folks, this is the shot I have been raving over since I first shot it, and this time I got video! The quality is low, it was raining pitchforks and hatchet handles (note the heavy rain inthe loco headlights), but it is still almost 2MB!

Let me know what you think. The quality is low, because of size considerations, and I shot it thru my digital still camera, that does doube-duty.

Nice video! Was that a pusher on the end?

    Unmanned DPU helper. Yes, pushing.
Manned helpers are all but gone on the Moffat Route. :(

Here's a shot I took shortly before taking the above video:
Note the raindrops on the lens:

The only reason that shot works at only this tunnel versus other longer, straight or curved tunnels is the long straight section. It allows the loco headlights to illuminate the bore lining; the curvature of the other end of the tunnel shuts out all other light. Most other curved tunnels are too sharply curved to see the headlights, much less light up the lining(with that much illumination)! And this shot only works on the west portal, since the east portal os so sharply curved.
OK, I think I'll step off the soapbox now... [IMG] :D

I enjoyed it Hemi! Its nice to see other types of media too. You are fortunate to be located in a really photographic area of the country, I for one would love to also see more videos.

Maybe you could post a video to RailImages once or twice a month, but take down the previous video to conserve space on their servers. I would say letting the file size head up to 5MBs, that way you could increase the length or quality of the video when you wanted. While 5MBs is kinda long for those on 56K connections, high speed internet connections could handle 20 - 30 MBs with no problem I would think, which I have so I am biased.

Thanks again for the video, very cool.

I'll keep those ideas handy, Chris!
I should take video of the South Draw, east of Pinecliffe, among other places... Maybe next time, I'll bring the Hi-8 video camera as well.

Thanks for the video, looks great, in spite of the weather! My still camera also does video, but I have not really tried it much yet, maybe I now will [IMG]

That was the camera's maiden voyage to video-land. I think, considering the camera's main use, the video capability is nice.
