Hi all, You all know about 'March madness' well I'm declaring March as 'Tunnel Motor madness'! Let me explain, I am modeling the D&RGW & SP in Utah, I have been patiently waiting for a manufacturer to produce a acceptable SD40-2T in N Scale for as long as I can remember. Overland just released 6 different variations of this engine in N Scale brass, unless I have a rich relative someplace that I don't know about, this isn't an option. I believe that Kato is on the doorstep with the release of the SD40-2, I believe with some gentle persuasion on our parts they could see that this is the direction to take next. I have already sent them several emails regarding this, however I could use some support from you great people. If an affordable N Scale SD40-2T would interest you, please send Kato a sincere email, (no flaming or nit-picking) and lets try to make them see that this would be a great engine not only for them, but for us! 2slim
I have no use for a Tunnel Motor, I model CP... I don't think they have any. However, if you want one, I'll send an e-mail or if you get a "petition" going I'll sign it. The more N-Scale, the better. D6
not too many Tunnell Motors on thw eat coast, but my Railroad uses 80 of them so I definately want some SD40T-2's!!
I wouldn't worry about Kato releasing a SD40T-2. They will in the next few years because Kato is commited to producing the entire SD40-2 line including the SD40T-2. How do I know this? I talked to one of the employees at Caboose Hobbies in Denver who told me this. I have also herd this from a Kato rep. and 2 dealers at GATS in Omaha.

Would it be better if Atlas produced them since the SD-50/60 frame is about dead on for length. However, I will take a couple dozen from either one. BTW, Overland found quite a few road names for them. [ 20 March 2001: Message edited by: rgn1 ]
I see one or two Tunnel Motors a week on CSX coming through Gulfport, MS heading to/from Atlanta, Birmingham, or Jacksonville. Most have been re-painted for UP, but some are still in SP grey. And last week I saw one in original D&RGW. Sorry, missed its number Hank [ 21 March 2001: Message edited by: Hank Coolidge ]
