Guy's / Girls, I have a question that I hope someone can answer. I've been invited to a hiring session out in Arizona next week. I need to know a lot about it and what I'm in for. I'd like to know if it's even woth going out there for it. I'm an engineer in Illinois (30yrs this August), I work days (6am - 4pm), weekends / holidays off, 5 weeks paid vacation, 12 personal days and am number 3 on the board (top 3). We want to move out there / retire in the worst way, but I still have 10 more years before I'm 60. I thought that maybe I could do a 10yr gig out there and then pull the pin, but would I be getting into a big mess? Need some answers quick, have to go out there next week.

Can you retire from the ILL job? How much will you lose in retirement if you retire 10 years early? How will you be bidding 10 years from now on the UP in Arizona. UP union has seniority by district (I think) and not system wide. (I think that is unusual.) Just some thoughts.

If you leave you Ill job, starting out at UP will put you at zero of everything.
