I would love to see someone come out with the UP Gas Turbnine other than OMI, Kato I think would do a great job!:tb-biggrin:
ConCor has announced them. I was almost certain that Athearn was going to do N scale versions of their HO release... and was un-pleasantly surprised by an announcement from ConCor that they were going to re-release their 1970'-1990' versions of these models. Supposedly... ConCor will be retooling them to conform to current DCC standards and may have sound as an option too. I'm a big fan of Kato products [despite some of their latest gaffes]... but I did not expect them to get into such a specific prototype with such a limited range of models for potential sales. ConCor... on the other hand... seems the perfect one to make these because they'd put any 'fantasy' roadname on them without remorse. So Eastern model railroader rejoice... you'll eventually have your own Lehigh Valley U-50 and Gas Turbines.
late or early in the 60's CSX tried there hand at a turbine it did not pan out and CSX went with EMD:tb-tongue:
That's not possible since CSX was formed in 1986. That's just a fantasy paint scheme by Con Cor since CSX did not exist in the 60's prior to Chessie and did not have any gas turbine locos Con Cor also made some U50's with the Chessie scheme and several other fantasy paint schemes that never existed.
I like the Turbines, I would prefer that Athearn do them, but Con Cor will have to do. I just hope they do something about the railings which are just too darn thick. They ruin the look of the locomotive. I am sure Athearn would do a better job overall especially the railings. Does anyone agree ? fatalxsunrider43
