Mike, David is about right on the mountain modules. The Castle Crags module is about 6 feet long by almost 5 feet from front to back side. The end module is 6 feet long also. On the end module I was able to achieve a 2% grade from the narrow end winding back and forth and coming back down to the other side of the narrow end. 25 feet of track in that back and forth 2% grade climb. The outer track was flat and went around the entire mountain range with no hidden track. The whole Castle Crags top portion was one piece and believe me, no magnets were necessary. All pink foam and covered with Bragdon cast satin rock castings. I think it weighed about 2 hundred trillion metric tons ) If you hinge a portion you will have trouble lifting the hinged part up without destroying any scenery. I'd go for a lift off section and hide the seams. Just thinking outloud.
Sweet video David 6x5 that is one big mod and I thought your yard was Big I hate to haul that around...........
Sure puts my "emergency ends" to shame. Great use of STYROFOAM! LOL!! It will really come alive when you add the track. Lindley
I'm now using WS molds but you can see a couple of pic's that I did carve rocks I used a fine hack saw blade for those
Good job Mike. its nice to s ee a block a foam turn into a glacier. Now its time to turn it something more like the California landscape.
Only these rocks but now using the WS molds for all rocks for some reason I didn't like what I was seeing.........
Looks great Mike, be sure to make some cuts with a steak knife where you might want to place a building or 2, and a road so cars can get up there. A mountian like that begs for broadcast towers w/equipment buildings, a farm shed or barn, lots of cow trails, high tension towers, etc.
