This photo was taken with my cell phone today (8/31) at 4:50 pm near a grade crossing in S. Ocala. I've never seen UP power on a freight down here before. Can anyone explain?
Pool power, often RRs pool locos and so trains can run from one coast to another without changing locos. UP might have owed hours to CSX, and these locos are helping pay back those hours.
UP supplied about 25% of the power on CSX between New Orleans and Mobile for the past 20 years. By the same token, CSX power is seen on UP all the way to California
