I have a few New Mexico Union Pacific Trackage Rights questions for you UPfanatics. BNSF runs a portion of their PRB line (which empty coalies return to Wyoming) that runs out of Amarillo, TX up thru Dalhart, TX up across the NE corner of New Mexico through Des Moines, NM eventually up thru Trinidad, Walsenburg, Pueblo, CO. Does the UP run empty coalies up this line? If so does the UP have any lines or Trackage Rights West of Walsenburg, Trinidad or Pueblo, Colorado???

Okay. BNSF has the Transcon line E/W across New Mexico from Texas to Arizona. Does UP have any Trackage Rights across the Transcon?? I've seen a few coalies w/all UP power running across the Transcon at Vaughn, where the UP line crosses the BNSF.

What is the name(s) of the subdivisions on UP between El Paso, TX across New Mexico via Alamogordo, Carrizozo, Vaughn, Santa Rosa, Tucumcari and eventually to Dalhart, TX??? Does BNSF have Trackage Rights across this stretch of UP Territory????

Sorry for all the TR questions; however, if anyone could help I greatly thank you for the time and info!!!!!

Not sure for any of this. Hopefully someone can answer.

IIRC from Carrizozo to Tucumcari was called the Lordsburg District I think. Don't quote me on that but that name comes to mind immediately with the mention of those two places. Carrizozo Sub would be the other instant thing that came to my mind.
Hopefully that can get you started on some other research. :)

Lordsburg is approximately 160 miles West on the near the AZ line. There is a Lordsburg Sub; however, the line I'm looking for info on is East (NE) of El Paso. There is a Carrizozo Sub; however, I'm not sure if it runs from Carrizozo North or South. Thanks

The UP has trackage rights from Ft Worth to Pueblo (ex-SP) and from Herrington to Chicago on the Transcon (ex-SP). The UP has operated coal trains from Colorado to Texas via Amarillo.

The UP does not have trackage rights west of Amarillo, but does operate detour trains between LA and Vaughn (on the UP Golden State route) when there is a derailment or major curfew on the Sunset Line (El Paso to LA).
