Norfolk Southern Service Alert Update: Flooding in Midwest and Forest Fires in Southeast May 10, 2007 Norfolk Southern continues to experience flooding caused by the recent heavy rain in the vicinity of Hardin, Mo., and in the Carrollton, Mo., area where a breech in the levee has occurred. The flooding is not expected to crest until sometime late Friday night or Saturday morning. Traffic moving in the corridor between Kansas City and Moberly, Mo., could experience delays of up to 24 hours. NS is currently operating trains over alternate routes as operations and conditions permit. The forest fires in south Georgia and the north Florida area continue to cause operational delays with traffic moving in the Valdosta, Ga., to Jacksonville, Fla., corridor. The Federal Forestry Service has placed periodic holds on all rail traffic through Eddy, Fla., in the past 24 hours, as fire and smoke approached the Norfolk Southern right of way in the area. Traffic moving in this corridor could experience delays of up to 24 hours until the fires are brought under control.
