I'd like to see a map of the Denver & Rio Grande Railroad very early in their life. Pre-1890. By chance does anyone know of one on line? Am not interested in buying a book...... Boxcab E50
Well, those appear to be just a little too early. I was hoping for something that would show the gold and silver mining branches just after completion. Crested Butte is there. But not those north of that area. Thanks. Boxcab E50
Slimjim, You live in Utah, correct? Where? I was in Helper UT this morning, and 3, yes three DRGW unpatched SD40T-2's are in the yard at Helper. I couldn't get a good shot, due to early AM light, so mine are grab shots from Amtrak... Any chance you or someone else could get shots of those units?
Have you thought about checking with the Colorado RailRoad Museum in Golden, CO?? They might have what you're looking for and should be able to provide you a copy for a small fee. I had them copy the BNSF Denver Yard map for me. Cost me just over $20 for a 3 foot by about 20 foot map!! Otherwise, I can put the inquiry out on the DRGW discussion list at Yahoogroups.
I live in Draper at the south end of Salt Lake County. Yes, I keep real good track of the T-2's. If you want to read about some of my road trips to Helper and beyond, just go to my site and click on Road Trips. BTW, you must have been east bound on the #6.
Indeed I was, with the crazy light angle, and all! At Helper, WB on #5, the light was gone, and I was eating dinner, minus camera. I didn't leave the camera behind in the sleeper ever again when I left for dinner, etc.... Is there a good site on Soldier Summit? I have seen a few, but not much more than just a bunch of text, not pics.
