I'm always coming across old steam parts and fitting catalogs in my online research of Ashton Valve. I find them fascinating. Maybe you will too. I continue to be amazed at how old some of these names are. On another thread I mentioned that I bought Lunkenheimer valves and in this thread I see two more familiar names -- Crane and Walworth. With rebuilding, valve bodies can last a long, long time. Some brands, particularly control valve manufacturers, pay a bounty to recover valve bodies from the field so as to deter aftermarket repair shops from working on them. We usually went back to the OEM for repairwork to assure top quality. Not wise to save thousands with an aftermarket source and later have a process failure that costs tens of thousands.
I found a couple of hand books. The work manager's guide even mentions how to handle shop injuries. https://archive.org/details/worksmanagersha00huttgoog/page/n10?q=crosby+valve https://archive.org/details/modelengineersh00haslgoog/page/n8?q=crosby+valve https://archive.org/details/smithwinchesteri00smit_0/page/n7?q=ashton+valve
