A group of us are starting up a Virtual Railroad using MSTS. If you are interested in participating or curious about what this is about please take the time to drop by our website. Or if you have questions feel free to respond or ask them here. Thanks....look forward to hearing from all of you...
Jim, What exactly is your virtual railroad about? I do not have MTS but am interested in the concept?
Basically, Virtual Railroads are developed by a group of people, to simulate on computer the rail operations of a real or fantasy railroad. The group consists of staff personnel, engineers, and folks that design equipment, routes, and activities to be used with MSTS. While we are still working out what our actual routes will be, some of the recommendations have been for an east-west route across Canada, a north-south Midwest U.S. route and then an east-west route across the southern U.S. The northeast corridor of the U.S. is covered by a VR called Atlantic Coastal Railway, oldest and largest, and there are several others trying to progress through the startup phases of doing so. I've been working on a Rapid Transit System for Ohio, something it direly needs but is still away in the future in real life. At the same time I handle some of the web site work, the forum activities and since I enjoy MSTS I will be doing some of the engineer activities once we get our routes and activities worked out. So far we have skinned/painted 2 SD45's and a P60 and a passenger consist. We are working on an Acela, a yard switcher, and a GP40 as well as an F40. The organization has: President/CEO Vice President Director of Freight Services Director of Passenger Services Human Resources Director Public Relations Officer Reskinners Route Developers Activity Developers (the last three are the ones that basically handle preparing the MSTS material) Engineers (Freight & Passenger) Our web site is still bouncing around a bit as we try and tie down a reliable host that provides adequate disk space and services. If you go to train-sim.com you can get a really good feel and background for everything that is involved.
VNARC is progressing well for those of you that might be interested. We have added to new features: Our own Forum board, and Our own EMail Server for members. Stop by the VNARC web page for more information. We've also posted our proposed Route Map.
