Following on from the BOB pictures, the BOB meets the WAB (Wengenalpbahn) at Lauterbrunnen and Grindelwald.

The WAB is 800mm track gauge, so through running with the meter gauge BOB is not possible. The WAB connects with the Jungfraubahn at Kleine Scheidegg. (The JB climbs mostly in tunnel through the Eiger and Monch to it's upper terminus at Jungfraujoch).

Here is a WAB railcar at Lauterbrunnen

In 1988 thse new railcars were introduced, and look very good in the green and yellow livery. This one is seen at Wengen, and one of the earlier railcars is seen at right, these date from 1950's and 60's

Having just crossed the bridge in the previous picture, one of the new railcars arrives in Grindelwald station. Note the racks between the tracks, gears on the train engage with the rack to allow trains to climb the steep grades.

The railway is mainly a passenger carrier, but there are a few freight vehicles. Here is a van parked at Lauterbrunnen.
