    Matt,
I can't say awhole on the SW-1's, being I don't own one to run, but I have seen them and had them in my hands. I did see one run but, I didn't get to watch long and I can't say how long it ran. I do know they are half ways decent in detail and all and proportions look good. I don't have any dimentions on them from the real one to the HO scale one. I did however notice that the uncoupler bar on the loco are alittle long and in need of some scale modeling TLC. And if your looking for a P2K detailed one you may have that to do on your own. I didn't notice any lift rings or such on the one I seen. It didn't seem to pull bad or anything on a cut of 8 cars in a yard. The opperation was slow and smooth.

I hope this helps for I don't own one to actually say how good or bad it actually is. Hey guys, anyone out their that owns and runs one of these switchers???? I helped all I can so, someone pick up where I left off.... :D Feel free to correct anything I may have said in a false statemement....

    Hi Matthew,

I don't have an SW-1, but I've heard that they are good runners and pull well. I'm not sure about their accuracy since I'm not that familiar with the SW-1, but they do look very nice.

Some people have been recommending the version with the revised rear truck drive. The old drive has a plastic tube and the new drive has a ball joint. If you get one with the old drive, you can phone or email Walthers for the upgrade kit.

I own two of the older versions. They both have the tube linking the drive shaft with trucks. My CBQ (older of the two) "squeels" a bit going around sharper curves but still runs well enough that I have made no upgrades. The second one I purchased in MILW has always run quiet and I have had no problems. I think Walthers offers replacement parts for the tube or I believe MR once reviewed these and stated that sliding the tube one way or another on the shafts would remedy the noise problems.
As a side note I re-engined an Athearn U 30 C with a can motor and instead of fitting the universals I used heat shrink tubing on the drive shafts and have had no problems at all.

hi.. I be the newest member and this is my first post!!.....Yes, I own the NYC Walthers SW1 and happen to say that it runs very well at slow speeds and will crawl along pretty realistically. The detail is better than mediocre, but with a good weathering job, it looks real nice.
