Hey all Lets see your "wave" shots! The hogger of SP 6856 east, gives a traditonal SP wave. This was taken at Woodford CA, (Tehachapi). The shadow of the twin water tanks can be seen on 6856. Circa 1995 Thom
I'll bet there is a picture of OC Engineer JD waving somewhere on TB!? When I was a child, it was one of my favorite railroad things to see the engineer wave back to me.
I guess I could put this here as well, it is a wave of sorts. [ December 06, 2005, 03:54 PM: Message edited by: okane ]
That's one cool photo Jerry, it has so many cool Santa Fe elements to it. I found it and set it as my background on my computer for the time being.
Found another moldie oldie...of an Amtrak "Santa Barbaran" pausing for passengers in Glendale, Ca , circa 1981...this time of a railfan waving towards the crew.
Found another...this was not the greatest pic...circa 1983 lots of contrast and grain...this one taken at Caliente, CA (near Tehachapi)...what made this one special...was the wave coming from the fireman's side...was of my dear friend Joe Lawson (passed away about 10yrs ago)...we were railfanning near Edison (closer to Bakersfield)...when one of the crew members of a train..waiting for a highball from SP dispatcher...offered a cabride...to Tehachapi summit...well my friend Joe...lucked out...
Is that an SDP40? And is that Railfan showing the "live long and prosper..." sign to the engineer? \ \----/ /- -\ \--/ /-
