Weathering

    Hello i just purchased 2 Conerstone kits. i don't want them to look "new" what is a good way to weather kits? Thanks Paul

    First step, as per all the articles, is a shot of Dullcote to kill the shine or seal your painting. Second (for me at least) is at least a wash. I prefer to use Delta paints (the plastic bottles in the craft section of the store). Get a dish of water with a drop of dish soap mixed in, put a drop of paint on the tip of a flat wide brush, dunk the brush in the water and flow the thin paint on.

    OK. I usually use a dark gray, like charcoal, to do the initial coat. Once dry, you could use lighter grays, earth tones, or whatever will match your scenery.

    Further highlights can be added with drybrushing lighter shades of the base color on exposed areas or with chalks (the Dullcote is imperative for this, as it gives the chalks something to hold onto.

    Paul Templar replied to a topic I opened in the layout design section a while back, in great depth. You might want to take a look at that (if you can still find it). It was very informative, and from God himself!
