Great pics, everyone! John, a how-to photo thread would be awesome! I have a few older Kato Dash 9's that I hide because they don't have numbers Thanks in advance!
Thanks Colonel. Great work and great photos. I have to say that G scale rocks. and Tompm, quit posting proto photos. Loco1999
It's not perfect, and I'm not a great craftsman, the plastic handrails are too big, but it was the best I could do at the time. I learned a lot from this project, there's a few mistakes like the handrails that I won't make on the next one. So here's my MLW RS18 from an old LifeLike RS11 shell and an Athearn GP7 drive and chassis. It's almost finished. I have to put the hoses, headlight lenses and some black and some rust paint coloring for the wheels and trucks, maybe this evening I'll get it finished. After that it's the GP18. Just click on the thumbnails for the big picture. Cheers Willis
They look fine to me. If we required 'perfect' we'd have no one to post photos here! Learning from the project is the idea. I like the paint scheme. Custom decals?? Regards Ed
OK, I will take step-by-step photos when I do the next set of GP30 numberboards. Don't know exactly when that will be completed, but it's on the 'schedule' now! (smile)
Yes, that was the MoPac Sugar Land Yard. They used it to break up the trains of raw sugar coming into the Imperial Sugar refinery along with other raw materials used in the refining process. Cars of packaged refined sugar and tank cars of liquid sugar were made up into trains here also. In the November 2004 Trains Magazine on page 42 it shows a rail map of the Houston area. It is still in use and is show there as the Imperial Holly Sugar yard. Here is a photo of a tank car that our club will be selling sometime soon. Micro Trains is doing them for us.
