I was invited to an operating session on the Kettle Moraine Ballast Scorcher's layout yesterday. Here's a couple of pics I took on some of my "jobs."
Made it to the LHS yesterday and now I've got a Spectrum GP30 to paint for CGW. But the best part is I got it for $20 and it runs nearly as good as Atlas.(but not quite)
After a week or so of progress, the first Z layout has begun: [ March 26, 2006, 06:40 PM: Message edited by: HemiAdda2d ]
hemi: Glad to see you started that Z scale layout. That's alot of railroading in that space. Is it 2x4' or slightly larger? What % grade are you going to use? Have fun... Stay cool and run steam....
One more, I did get some work done today. The fuel stands, and water and lube stands are in. Still need to add the hoses but that will have to be another day. Once the hoses are in I can add the detail parts, fire extinguishers, tool racks and supply cart, more workers, and a bag or two of Driz-it. Thanks Bob, it's coming along but slow. Don't seem to have as much time lately. Great pictures again, that aerial looks great, the hoppers are beautiful and John S. what a layout. How do you manage to get to see all these layouts? Have a good week all.
Chad: It must be alot easier to detail in HO. I see you branched out into UP as well. Stay cool and run steam.....
Hey Bob, well from a size standpoint it's easier but if you make a mistake it sure shows up more... Yeah, I decided to model SP and UP. Adds a bit of color, nice bright yellow and all. But I still have a soft spot for SP. Can't wait for the BLI F-7's to come out, I have an AB set of order in Black Widow and if they are as good as I hope they are I'll get another so I can pull my refers with the full ABBA set. Just wish there was more QSI equipped Sp in Bloody Nose. Just not a lot out there so far.
I haven't been keeping up with what's available in HO. I just recently picked up a Bachmann 3 Truck Shay in HO. The detailing is outstanding. Now I have to find a decoder for it. Stay cool and run steam....
Very cool, soon you will have that HO layout built. Here is what I am looking at. But BLI says min 22" which is my smallest radius however I get a bit nervous that it won't work.
Chad: That is a nice looking steam loco. I can actually see all the fine detail parts. Stay cool and run steam....
2x4'. Grades at 2% for 24", stiffening to 2.4% for the remainder of the climb. Parallel siding on the RH side is level.
I've been away from the train for a couple of weeks. Did get a chance for some rail fanning though this weekend. We've been by thus palce a million times, can't see this engine when the vegitation is full. Doesn't look like she's going anywhere anytime soon. CMRR 2361 (Catskill Mountain RR ???) Notice the name Chitty under the road number and on the nose.
Hi, Chad, I travel on business a lot.... that's the only reason I have been able to see a few more layouts. Lucky that good folks here on the Forum make those nights in hotel away from home, a little easier.
Finished detailing, puting a decoder in and weathering a Kato SD-45. I model BN mid eighties so these were pretty grimmy by this time.
Really nice lookin' loco Tony. I finished a kit bashed 40' exterior post container. They were popular before the builders started going with corrugated sides. A few are still around today though.
