Well, there were six presidents that died from when those locomotives were new until they would have probably not been used in funeral train service.
    G. Cleveland died 1908
    T. Rosevelt died 1919
    W. Taft died 1930
    W. Wilson died 1924
    W. Harding died 1923
    C. Cooledge died 1933

Had to show off my latest small step on the layout. Except for a very small space under the bridge, the entire layout now has a layer of basic ground cover in place! It's amazing how long it took me to get this far. You should be glad I wasn’t in charge of construction of the ark. Anyway, here’s an overview shot.

Here’s one at a slightly lower angle showing the yard area.

And here’s one with my cardboard and foam building mock-ups in place, just to give you some idea of how it’s eventually supposed to work.

Still lots to do, including shrubs, tall weeds, underbrush, trees, buildings, people, ballasting track, etc………… I’m in no danger of running out of stuff to do. I should live so long as to actually finish it.

    Regards

Ed, the layout is coming along nicely. What a difference it makes to show it with the structure mock-ups in place! Great idea [IMG]

Thanks Carl, yeah can't see out of them. I am thinking alcohol on the end of a Q-Tip might let the boys see where they are going.

A few items from my Winchester trip today. These items were found in Gainesboro, VA, a stop on the Winchester and Western rail road. CSX labeled equipment though.

A little further out, at Gore VA I found the Winchester and Western depot and locomotive.

There was also this oddball unit, no trucks (on blocks), no cab, looks like a slug to me, but why this road would have one, and why it would be up on blocks is beyond me. Cheap trucks, perhaps?

Last but not least, the other side of the hopper in front of the building:

If you've never seen the Winchester and Western, here's a little information: http://www.varail.com/ww/wwhome.html, although I would love a more complete history source.

Here are a couple of late entries.

These are a couple of covered hoppers I finished weathering last week.

This one is a custom paint and lettering job
    [IMG]

This is a Bev-Bel that was one my first attempts at weathering. I have been trying to fix it ever since. I just finished trying to blend the weathering in a little more. Still not 100% satisfied with it but getting there.

Lots of inspirational stuff this week. I guess it better late than never, but with my wifes health lately I am limited to what i can do until the wife and kids are taken care of. I have finally managed to get a few things done around the layout and I actullay took some pics. Here they are. This first one is of two background buildings I have been working on for the last month [IMG]
Here are some tepees given to me by a friend that will soon be part of a wild west village. [IMG]
This was taken by my brother. His photography skills are better than mine.
