Here is the Imperial Merchantile or "company store" in the early 1950's. Imperial Sugar issued their employees company script to spend in the various company retail outlets. Typical company town.
SNFF 2006 8 11 After several weeks absence due to business trips, I'm able to contribute a few photos. Santa Fe, in the 1960's, had a habit of humongous lashups of blue/yellow freight diesels: This lashup of early to mid-1990's Kato/Atlas GP35s and GP30s, all came from the Kato factory with blank numberboards... you can see why I needed a way to save time in applying the numberboards! http://home.comcast.net/~atsf_arizona_2/Easy_N_Scale_Locomotive_Numberboards.html I used to see lashups similar to this running through Glendale, Arizona, taking freight trains up the Santa Fe's Peavine Line north towards Ash Fork: The lead locos in the above photo, Santa Fe 7519 and 7514, are U23C's, which I'm reasonably sure never showed up on the Peavine Line in real life..... however, the big bulky brutish look of them seemed like a good project to do. Santa Fe actually had twenty of these 'oddball' U23C's, purchased from General Electric in about 1968, for service on Santa Fe's Raton Pass line between La Junta, CO and Albuquerque, New Mexico: Only about 50 of these U23Cs were built for the domestic USA market before 2nd generation diesels being bumped out of mainline duty basically killed the intermediate horsepower C-C niche marketplace that the GE U23C and EMD SD39 were built to fulfill. Here's a shot of the entire Santa Fe lashup, all 9 diesels: I hope that all of you in Denver are had a great time, I wish I could be there. Please post photos from Denver! Have a good weekend, all.
I saw this picture with this EOT stored on a strange place... ...so I've decided that I'll try to build this in "O scale" as well (yeah right...)
...and I did also finish the four Kato N scale SD40-2 for CN/IC (note the bracket for the EOT on the other three engines w/o EOT...)
Nice models guys! John, your weathering is great, gotta love all that blue. Steve, super detail as usual.
Hey, Happy Weekend everyone.Happy trails to those on their way to Denver. Russ, you amaze me every week. Here's mine for this week.
Excellent modelling guys, Steve some great details added for N scale. Here is my first venture into custom painting HO, overall I'm pleased with the result. for more info see this topic MoPac 3160 And NO I'm not changing scales (Yet) lol
Great work all!!!! Paul you change scales, may the fleas from a 1000 camels infect your nose. Here is what I have got done,,,, one of my few attempts at weathering. Adios for now, Wyatt
Looks like your new layout is going well, Wyatt. And good job on the weathering! Are you going to have a layout tour this year, around the time of the Temple show?
Matthew, it is part of the old layout, just 19" x 96" switching district in the garage. Not on tour,,,,,,,, not many people want to see a switching layout in a garage with no AC. But if you want to come by, just drop me a line. Adios Wyatt
Great inspiration by everyone...since I could not make it to the Denver N Scale Convention..thought I would post a little waterfront action on the BearCatRR.
Russell Another cool model based on reality! Bob Neat black & white shots! They set a great mood! Wolfgang Nice looking loco! John Sing Awesome lash-up! Steve W. Awesome loco! Mike Cool shots! Paul C Great loco! Wyatt Great looking scene! Sakokuma Awesome scene!
For my 'Easier N Scale Numberboards' web page: http://home.comcast.net/~atsf_arizona_2/Easy_N_Scale_Locomotive_Numberboards.html I made a shot of how the adhesive mailing label numberboards, with white on black background, looks in dim light: And for comparison, the GE U23C with black numbers on white background: Enjoy, all!
