Nice work, everyone! Here's one from the family photo album department. UP 6264 was in Utah in 1961 when it posed for this picture: UP 6264 is a C57 2-8-0, and is now in Nevada, I believe, and has been "cosmetically restored". I read that it is on the short list for a real restoration, but not sure how credible that information is. This photo languished for 45 years in a box of discards until I found it.
Birds Eye View Alamo Iron Works, on the lower right corner of the photo, is across the Espee main line from the St. Paul's Square area and Sunset Station. Newell Steel is flanked by two yard ladders. Lone Star beer on the right; Pioneer Flour on the left. The track at the top leads to the San Antonio Power and Light spur. One of my projects is to place one of those welder's flashing lights inside the building.
Jim, You make me anxious. I have two coming from Neal's but I had him wait for decoders so he could ship all together. Got a call Friday that the loco's were idling on the ready track, decoders installed (not requested, just great customer service) and being shipped. I have the BLMA sunshades ready to apply, and with the handrails painted they will be ready to work. Nice pictures, Doc
I found the 'movie' setting in my camera last night. The quality is not as good as a vudeo camera but the ability to record the sound is a real plus. http://www.railimages.com/gallery/album508/aaq Jon
Jon, I don't know how you can say "...not as good....", I am mightily impressed! :shade: My only complaint is that the monkey motion was hidden throughout... BTW, what camera did you use?
Great pics, and a great video,,, No matter how you try to lure us N scalers to the dark side ( ho) we will never go!! Here is a pic from me,,, sorry about the focus isue with the far SOO unit,,,, I guess I need to get the free version of Helicon. And something for out DRGW fans out there...... Adios Wyt
It's my new Canon Power Shot A620 camera. I'm just getting to grips with the basics at the moment. I shot another video tonight showing a bit more of the 'business end' for you. http://www.railimages.com/gallery/album508/aar Jon
I've been working on a heavyweight RPO. Still have a ways to go on this but thought I would post a photo anyway. Its a JnJ brass car side on a Bachmann shorty coach. If you like to file, sand, and cut & fill holes, this project is for you. But it will have to do until somebody comes out with better heavyweights.
Can't wait to see what road you paint it up for. I built one of those in Southern Pacific. I really like all the detail they can etch into those brass sides.
Two Pictures from Union Pacific's Sunset Route in West Texas. Union Pacific SD70M #4875 climbing a hill into Alpine, Texas, headed west towards El Paso. Union Pacific SD70M #4875 descending towards Marfa, Texas from Paisano Pass, headed west towards El Paso.
