Hi, all, I'm almost back from my business trip - just finished an addition to my web site with a online with pictures tutorial on doing N scale locomotive number boards using laser printed adhesive mailing labels: Here's the URL to the web site: http://home.comcast.net/~atsf_arizona_2/Easy_N_Scale_Locomotive_Numberboards.html As many of you know, Flash Blackman had an article on this type of technique in N Scale Railroading a while back - Thank You Flash for the inspiration for me to learn to do this. As others may want to know as well, I took the time this morning to create the web page to document this online.
Avery Label Decals Great job, John Sing. This is probably easier than the decals. Fewer steps to do.
Russell, Great Santa Fe Hi-Levels. What did you start with to use to make them? They look like they may be Con-Cors with sides, or ? I might like follow your lead to do the same.....
Thanks. I had an old resin copy of the brass cars that came out years ago. I believe J&J sold the resin shells at one time. I cleaned it up a bit and milled out the inside to get thin walls and made my own RTV mold to cast my own copies. I also generated my own interiors.
Eight DOD Tank Cars Here is some practice with my skinny picture technique. I finished the eight DOD tank cars I need for my layout. Still have to do the weathering. Interesting, but that is probably enough practice of that technique.:wilted_rose:
Hey John Sing, Great looking #boards !!!!!!!!!!!! Hey Flash, Great looking picture !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Great Falls Model RR Club is having me refurbish its N layout, needing new track and roadbed. So I did, and shot my new D&RGW F7's from Intermountain as well:
Ok, I had to show both of them finished. I think they came out good, considering I haven't weathered anything for awhile.
Jerry, Dullcote,Airbrushed rail brown wash, chalks, aibrushed white wash on one,Dry brushed on the other. I used a little masking tape here and there on both. Oh yeah and some weathering powder for the dark streaks on both of them.
I airbrushed a base coat of faded black, and then brush painted the rusted out lower part of the gon. I used some chalk also, at times applying it onto wet paint for added texture.
