Paul, This shot is one of my favorites too! Can you share with me how the brick retaining wall was constructed. I have an area like this where I think a retaining wall would work out well.
Chris, The brick retaining wall was o easy to do. I bought some brick paper from Faller and glued it to some thin masonite approx 1/8 so it is easy to curve. Here is another shot with a curved wall
Hi, all, As life is really busy right now, here's one from the archives. About one year ago, I was privileged to visit Dave Nenna's N scale Tehachapi Loop layout, during the 2005 NMRA National Convention in Cincinnati. Here's a shot: Thx again, Dave, for the generosity and the visit!
John, That is one layout I would love to see, you must be the most travelled person i know who has seen more layouts than anybody else. Maybe one day when you have time you could post a topic with the best photo of every layout you have visited, that would make excellent reading.
Chris: The restoration is about 95% complete. It's gone very well and ahead of schedule. I'm glad I had so many different photo's to refer to. Right now, I just have to replace some fractured Kato Mikado tender trucks on several loco's. I was able to repair the F units that were damaged as well. The rolling stock was easy to repair. The loco's required more exacting patience. The buildings were put back together like a puzzle although some sections had to be rebuilt completely. Fortunately I had enough scrap pieces from all the lasercut buildings that I had already put together. I replaced the backdrops that were totally destroyed this morning. An older photo of the upper level : Stay cool and run steam.....
Colonel, Thx for the kind compliment and suggestion. I'll see what I can do when I have time on the next long business trip on airplane ....... (smile!).
Finally have something to post. Finally got some time to work on my D&RGW power car 253. Still some work and paint. Started with Life Like PB unit and an Atlas SD35, swapped the trucks for GP units and started cutting. Inspiration came from this wonderful pic from Jim Griffin wonderful site.
