Weekend Modeling Photo Challenge "Signals" Ends Monday, August 23rd. This week I want to see some signals! Train control, model traffic control, crossing guard, EOT even! Whatever ya got as long as it can be categorized as a signal! *Please read all rules as they may have changed from previous weeks* If you notice a typo, error, or confusing statement, please notify user Mark Watson immediately for correction and clarification. Modeling Photo Challenge Topic: "Signals" 1. Challenges are open to everyone, have fun!! 2. The entry deadline is Midnight (UTC -11), Monday, August 23rd. Late entries will be accepted up until the official "Time's up!" post within the thread. 3. For photos to be eligible they must be taken between Friday August 20th and Monday, August 23rd. Please use the challenge as a motive to take a new photographs! 4. Any posts with images taken before the commencement of the challenge will not be included in the poll and may be moved to the cutting room floor thread. - Ensure dates and times on your camera are correct. - 5. Only one image per participant so please choose the image carefully. 6. Though realism is popular among voters, it is not required. Any image or snap shot related to the topic is acceptable! 7. Though not required, commenting on other peoples pictures is encouraged. 8. Please use the Cutting Room Floor thread for related but ineligible images. 9. A clever and distinctive title for your image helps identify it among voters. (And makes it easier for me when posting the poll ) 10. Photo editing and enhancing is perfectly acceptable and even encouraged, however the subject and focal point must remain that of a physical model. On August 24th, all entries will be put up for a public vote, in which all members of TrainBoard may vote for their favorite entry(s), regardless of whether you submitted an entry or not. Voting will last 4 days. You may vote for multiple entries. To do this, you must select all entries for which you wish to vote at once, and then click the submit button.
Good call...I look forward to seeing all the entries. Regrettably, I will have to watch from the sidelines.
Nope, nada. I intend to have some signals on my next layout, but....not this time around. I hope this gets more than just two or three entries. I really do hope to see several...it should happen on this forum.
The M of W flagman at Fredonia NY. Its mid afternoon, The flagman holds No.7 a South bound freight, while his maintance crew gets in the clear. It will be slow going for No. 7 when she gets the proceed board.
Nightfall at Chalendar Finds the eastbound Super Chief splitting the signal bridge and heading east at speed. The signature double-track CTC signal bridges across Arizona are now just memories. The signal bridge is a photoengraved brass BLMA kit with micro-LED's added - the cars are Kato with Rapido lighting units added.
Just a note to those whom don’t think they have signals on there layout. Remember that signals are more then lights or semaphores. Really any device or sing that governs train movements would be considered a signal. Remember where the high ball came from? The old ball on a poll? What a bought the brakeman or conductor with a lantern at the switch? So go look your layouts over, I bet you’ll find some there you did not even remember!
SD45 No.6174 crossing Roaring creek, following Signal rule 17, "The headlight will be displayed to the front of every train by night". DJ.
Thanks for the creative solutions posted and for your very commendable examples!! Okay, I guess I do have an offering...if you put it that way.
Last day to show us some signaling! Even Crandell got something together, now there's no reason anyone cant join in!
Signal Fire A courageous hiker sets fire to the tracks in hopes to stop the oncoming train and save it from the danger around the bend. See how I made the fire in the Cutting Room Floor.
Technically you still have about 6 hours until midnight UTC -11 time. Not to mention I don't post the official "times up" until morning. (UTC -11 is about 4am here)
Wasn't sure I could come up with something this weekend, But I'll give it a go..... SP 9244 waits for permission to pass red flags set by MOW crews clearing a minor rock slide.
And randgust wins by a single vote lead! It was most fun seeing all the different types of signals everyone came up with. Great work everyone!:thumbs_up:
