Going way back to 2005 or so, with a favorite shot at Tunnel 19 and a BNSF Denver-Stockton westbound at dusk.
Alcos in stereo sound at Hudson, OH on the former PRR, in July 1976. The train to the left is headed by former PRR C-425 2438 on the branch from Akron and the four 6-Axle Centuries (C-628s and C-630s, led by the 6786) are on the main, headed to Cleveland.
When's the last time you saw an ABA set of EMD's?! Today at North Auburn! Looks like it's waiting for a crew to take it south...
I stopped briefly by the Wernersville station while waiting for a haircut, and caught not one but two westbound empty ethanol trains. NS 65T, led by a single unit, was plodding along on its way from Philadelphia to Illinois. In contrast, NS 65K, from Sewaren, NJ, made the rails sing.
Great timing catching two trains there. That FMC covered hopper isn't prototypical because it's not covered in grafitti.
On November 5, 1994, the Union Pacific ran an excursion on the old MKT line out of Houston to Smithville and back. It was the last passenger car move on that line before the tracks were torn up between Houston and the town of Katy. Here is the power stopped at Smthville.
Wow, glad you were there to record the last train for history! Would love to see more pics, if you got 'em!
Here is the train at Cat Springs, Texas heading west. The excursion stopped to let all us photo folks off for run-bys, one with ditch lights and one for old time sake without. From the train as it passed through Katy, Texas.
A couple of Québec-Gatineau Geeps taking the weekend off: 801 is actually a road slug/control cab made from ex-C&O GP38 4823 built in 1970. Next to it, 3547 is a GP38-2. I used a 28-200 mm zoom lens from the level crossing at the west end of the yard in Boisbriand, Québec. That yard used to be the exchange yard on the former CPR Lachute sub for the long-gone GM auto assembly plant there. In 1988, I was hired as a security guard during the construction phase of the new paint shop (which had something like 7 km of conveyors) until the hand-off to GM's security for the finishing phase a couple of years later. Back in the 1970s, one of my sisters was hired at the plant as a secretary. Now, on the old plant site, there's a sprawling shopping center - not a mall - and lots of new-built condos and houses. No ballast stones were stepped on during the photo shoot.
Went to Medora, ND today for granddaughters bday, saw a couple of trains roll by, too late to even get the camera out! But, as we left I caught a quick grab of the head of this gravel train, just a photo. It was supposed to be a video, but I forgot to switch the camera back to video earlier.......
Tried to upload a bunch of new photos but there seems to be new file size restrictions, so I guess that's not happening. Nice shots from the rest of you!
Yeah, we raised it to that way back when we switched over to ZenForo software to run the forum in 2006. Used to be really small when we were using vBulletin.
Most photos show very well in a reduced size. Also note that (TrainBoard) must pay for storage of uploaded photos, ("bandwidth"), both here and on our sister site RailImages, on our server. Which is why we place a limit and suggest smaller. It makes the cost of keeping this site operating easier to bear.
