Here's a blue hour shot at Soo Tower just after sunset, straight from the cell phone, no enhancement.

From 03/18/1984 at Tuscaloosa AL, former GM&O GP-35 638, not yet renumbered. Those Alco trucks are from trade-ins.

It was a challenging day for photography, 3/6, but I figured I wouldn't be fighting shadows. Just for another challenge, the PRR heritage unit was tucked in the midtrain DPU in the autorack portion of 18N. I hadn't noticed before, or had forgotten, that there was no cab number on this unit.

Not sure if they load or unload tank cars at this "tank farm" facility. This is at what used to be called La Baie but now is part of Saguenay, Quebec. October 9, 2022.

I thought you'd enjoy that picture. When I was young, I remember these heading unit trains on the EJ&E, loaded with Illinois coal northbound to the big generating plant on the north end of the J at Waukegan. A most beautiful sight.

    That's beautiful! (y)

Really cool! GM&O had a lot of Geeps riding on Alco trade-in trucks. An interesting variation on the GP theme.:)

Nice catch. Good to see some classic tuscan red and cat's whiskers! Looks really good on that engine.

Don't get me wrong, the Blomberg type "B" truck is almost perfection since it was designed.

But an old Geep with AAR type trucks are cool! Milwaukee Road had GP-30's with them, the Soo Line did too, along with the GM&O!
The Ann Arbor and Alaska RR as well!

I do not recall ever having seen shielding even similar to this, at any tank car facility. Nice catch!
