After the Texas Chief was inaugurated, the Ranger between Chicago and Galveston was demoted to a secondary train and carried most the mail.

    Milw. Rd. 'Veneer' Box Car

The Milw. Took a small number of 40' double door box cars, removed the doors and put them in exclusive service for plywood. These became their 'Veneer' service boxcars. This is a MT 40' double door . I added .010 brass rods to create the ribs and added the 'B' end lumber door. The load is cardstock.

    Marty:

That is a great model...one heck of a job in that one!

    Happy ANZAC Day to all.

I am still practicing on weathering with oils. Just don't get it. Here are some cars I finished with chalks. I like the recovery after a shaky start.

Stock Kato covered hopper. I added the "S" to make it a sand car:

I had read somewhere in the modeling press that if you have a gap in a building, you can use round stock to "fill" the gap.
Well, I had built this Pikestuff 5001 Truck Terminal, and had a gap i the roof. SO I put a bit of 3/64' round styrene in the gap, and it worked a treat!
Now just to touch up the paint, and the steps and handrails and maybe a drink machine or two on the "porch"...

Ah. What memories. I recall seeing a few of these when I was a boy.
