Some Kato cars I kit bashed and painted to resemble some private varnish.

And now for something different ...

I painted my backdrop this morning, found my fine tip brush and decided to paint in a flock of birds in the distance. Not thrilled how this turned out, couldn't keep my hand steady leaning over bench work. May just paint a cloud over and try again.

Would be good to see a "normal distance" shot of that. It's a neat idea and looks like it might do fine at representing off in the distance.

Normal view. I still need to paint distant mountains up to the clouds.

Pat, I like your birds. Well done.

Here's my effort for this week. Jim

After seeing the normal distance view, those birds look plenty good.

Continuing work on the Santa Fe RSD7 and RSD15, based on old Model Power shells on a modified Atlas B40-8 mechanism with
    Atlas C628 trucks.

Got all the small decals on for the numbers /numberboards. Cut off fuel tanks from original Model Power chassis, used Aleene's Super Thick Tacky Glue to attach them to the mechanism:

Other side of Santa Fe RSD-7 #601. Up next will be overcoat with Model Master flat lacquer,
add the brake wheels, then proceed to wire handrails using the Randgust method:

In parallel, progress continues on Santa Fe RSD-15 #800 blue/yellow bookend scheme.
Decals from MicroScale 60-12 decal sheet:

Numberboards were done using this method:

This one also ready for the Model Master lacquer overcoat followed by wire handrails.

As for the fuel tanks, I basically used wire cutters to cut the fuel tank sides off of the Model Power mechanism,
then used Aleene's Super Thick Tacky Glue to glue them to the side of the Atlas mechanism.

Aleene's Tacky Glue dries clear and pliable, which means this mechanism and it's fuel tanks
can be picked up and handled with no problem, as the glue is flexible and strong enough
and most importantly, the dried glue is flexible, is *not* brittle.

You can't see this rather ugly looking underside when the model is right-side up.

    Have a good week!
