Managed to get some cars completed this week:

This is a Thrall Clone of the ACF 1958CF Covered Hopper, used the Eastern Car Works kit and filled in the side holes, added airlines where appropriate and A-Line Sill Steps. Painted with Scalecoat II Black and lettered with Mark Vaughn's Decals.

Intermountain Railway Company 12 Panel 10' Inside Height Boxcar Kit that was used by the Great Northern, this is the 5th car I have done and all five have different paint schemes. Car Painted with Floquiil Mixture of Jade Green and Burlington Northern Green to replicate the freshly painted Glacier Green. Lettered with Champ Decals.

This car took a lot of research, in 1958 The NYC painted two cars with an experimental paint scheme. At the Canada Southern website it stated the car was a double door boxcar of one of the NYC lots, but in looking at the picture and caption in the NYC Color Guide it seems the NYC bought a 50' car from the C&O and instead of the Despatch Ends and Roof it had a 4/4 End and a Diagonal Panel Roof along with a single 8' Door. I used a Branchline 50' Fishbelly side car, substituted a 4/4 end from the scrapbox and built the rest of the car as normal. Painted the car with Floquil Conrail Blue and Scalecoat II Black then lettered with decals from Modern Rails. Two months after these cars were painted the Jade Green with Cigar Band Herald cars came out.

    Thanks for looking,

    Rick J

Wow. Never knew such a car existed. Too bad they didn't paint up more of these.

    Class of 1983

These beauties are from Athearn's Genesis line. THe 3129 and 3130 were wreck replacements for the D&RGW. These were the only GP50-2s built by EMD in the year 1983. GP50 production was gearing up, but the GP40-2 model was available from EMD until the last two were built for FEC in 1986.
These beasties run as good as they look!! Thanks, Athearn!

Jim, that's a great photo. There's something about bridges and tunnels.... Nice backdrop, too.

Russel, what did you use for snow and how did you apply it?

Jim, another great scene. The bridge, train, creek,....pulled me into the photo so well I didn't even notice the backdrop.

Standard baking soda sifted loose with a strainer onto a diorama board. I cleaned and re-oiled the loco real well after to prevent corrosion on the wheels and gears.

I've been a cross a trestle of similar real size. Made me a bit nervous, as I could feel the structure lightly bouncing.
