Last weekend, I was in San Antonio for the WGH show. Here are some photos of the modules I took to set up in the NTRAK layout. Zoomed in a bit.
Great shots, Russ. Hi, all, for this week, I don't know if I've posted a view of the Santa Fe Peavine Line from this particular angle: By the way, if you are in the San Francisco Bay Area, the next local NMRA Coast Division meet is on Sunday, March 1, 2009, go here to see all the info: Welcome to Coast Division of Pacific Coast Region of NMRA The Coast Division meets are free to come to (no membership required), come see what the local Northern California NMRA Division is all about). Lots of good model railroaders present to talk with (including me), learn about all that is happening locally, and there's lots. I always bring something of mine for the Show and Tell. See more info about the meets at: Quarterly Online Meet Reports with lots of photos You can also anytime see the San Francisco area calendar of model railroading events, brought to you by the Pacific Coast Region of NMRA: Online Calendar Model Railroading Activities in Pacific Coast Region geography Have a good week, all.
Russell, it looks like a highly creditable urban scene. Lots of good detail. John, what a wonderful layout you have there. Congratulations...it looks so realistic. The image is marvellous, of course. Here is my contribution. It is an entry in another forum's contest where we are to show a 'small business'. The model isn't much, but it's all I have. I also thought to showcase my acrylic paint weathering job on the N&W caboose. The spruce in the foreground is handmade.
I have a "work in progress" picture. I'm busy with the scrap yard at my Diamond Valley. Have you pictures from a scrap yard about 1960 - 1970? I have to use my imagination. Wolfgang
I’ve dubbed this week as the “kill the pink” campaign. For the last number of months I’ve been staring at way too much pink foam. So I rolled up my sleeves and got some more of my mill scene done. Still a lot of detail work to do like a loading ramp by the CN boxcar, track bumpers, grass, etc., but at least I’m not looking at pink when I come into the room now. Brian
Grampa's 53 Chebby Grampa had a mini-factory in Portland - 3 or 4 employees who made tire repair supplies and tools. Grampa traveled a circuit, calling on tire shops from Bellingham WA to Mountain Home ID, Oakland CA and back to Portland. I traveled with him when not in school. As Grampa sold his wares, he'd telephone Portland, and the overnight Greyhound would bring a re-supply next morning. His first truck was a war-surplus '41 Dodge. About the time I started traveling with Grampa, he bought a new '53 Chevy and moved the canopy to that. This truck was always special to me - I learned to drive on it. Grampa's hand-lettered canopy first appeared on his '41 Dodge. Scott inspects the main gear during the pre-flight checks. Grampa rests on the bumper after unloading the large cardboard box into the truck (re-supply from Portland) . The location is Don Brady's Gas and Service at Weed, CA. Inside, Scott is buried in cardboard boxes that organize Grampa's wares. It's also Scott's job to keep the truck spit-polished. News in Weed, this morning, is the rumor that a new 'super-highway' (I-5) soon will replace north-south Highway 99. We wonder how that might effect the Siskiyou Southern Railroad. Scott
It's a busy day at the Cumberland Valley prep plant ... Here's the front end soon to be taking the main ....
I haven't taken one railfan shot this year! The Frontrange Sub sees very little traffic on the weekends. Fortunately this morning BNSF decided to run a Northbouth auto train. I was able to catch him on the S-curve under Hwy 42 in Louisville, CO.
Very nice, Wolfgang. I love the split level on your layout. Dr. J, what a beauty! Every modeller should have one of those tucked in the shadows beside a roundhouse, or maybe on a spur line. What fun it must have been to ride in such a thing.
The neighborhood threw a party honoring the last family to move into the block..... Now to cover up the pink and white on the otherside of the lake.
I finally got around to starting some "supertrees" from the kit I bought, and planted several on the hill behind my version of CP Rail East Binghamton yard, here is CP 164 leaving Binghamton for Philadelphia: My best, Jan
