I had some old Trix stock cars that were painted in the notoriously incorrect Santa Fe green scheme. I am not sure what the prototype for these cars was but I guess it does not matter as I decorated them for some fantasy lines that someone gave me decals for. Some guy who lives in San Antonio as I recall.
This weekend is the Prototype Models Cocoa Beach Meet in Cocoa Beach, FL: http://prototyperails.com/ This truly is a "Winter Nationals", i.e. the best and most famous of US model railroaders are at this annual event put on by Mike Brock and friends. If you ever have the chance to go, you must! Here are some pictures from last year's January 2013 event: This is following is the FEC N-Trak module showing the Jupiter Drawbridge on the Florida East Coast, with I-95 in the background. The prototype location is : N 26° 56.870 W 080° 05.400 on Google Maps. The view here is looking east, out into the Atlantic Ocean: You can see a few more photos of this event here: http://www.pbase.com/atsf_arizona/prototype_rails_2013_cocoa_beach If you are anywhere close to Cocoa Beach, FL, you can still go there for Sat Jan 11, 2014, a full schedule of clinics all day and evening! Make this meet one of those things on your "bucket list".
Hi, Eagle2, No, that model is by one of the lead guys at FEC N-Trak - a NASA engineer at Cape Canaveral who obviously is talented and is probably a true rocket scientist. (I don't have his name but anyone associated with FEC N-Trak probably knows). I'd have to retire from my day job if I could build a drawbridge like that. I should mention... that N scale model drawbridge is fully animated and operational, obviously. If you go to maps.google.com, and cut/paste this location: N 26° 56.870 W 080° 05.400 into the Google Maps, you'll see the prototype bridge from overhead, and you'll appreciate even more how good the guy's modeling is. The view of the drawbridge on the module is from the west looking east.
