And fun it is. Post away folks. Looking forward to see what you got.

Here is an oldie that I slightly updated. The Texas Special pulled by some new E8s that the Katy picked up to supplement the original corrugated side E7s.

Great modelling photos everyone. To quote Monty Python, "And now for something completely different..."

For me the hobby is as much if not more about operations. Photo fun shots from last night's C&W op session...

    Great shots already, everybody.

Mark Dance, thx and congrats for your article in the just-released Model RR Planning 2012 issue. Inspirational! (everyone, if you haven't seen that issue, if you like
Mark's photos above, get the magazine).

For me, I'm still working on the U30CG's in N scale, slowing painting up the Minitrix shell sides and nose, removing old lettering, drilling holes for the handrails, etc:

Here's a shot showing how fortunately, nicely, the U30C mechanism lines up and fits under the Minitrix N scale shell,
only minor grinding required (details in http://www.trainboard.com/grapevine/showthread.php?92144-Trix-U30CG/page5 ):

I'm in the process of decaling now..... have a great weekend, everybody.

Finally, the Lady Sea gets her cargo unloaded. Just finished (sort of) my container crane project. Hers's a close up of it in operation. Still have the railings and stairs to add but it's finally a functional part of the layout port scene.

After a while of doing more modern cars I have dropped back to the 50's to augment that fleet and especially my New York Central fleet of cars.

An Eastern Car Works Enterprise Covered Hopper, one of thirty ordered by the Peoria & Eastern a New York Central subsidiary and was part of a larger lot 747-H for both the P&E and NYC. Painted in Floquil Primer and lettered with Mark Vaughn Decals.

An Athearn Offset Hopper Car, one of 150 cars ordered by the P&E from Pressed Steel Car Co. as lot 787-H. Car painted boxcar red and lettered with Mark Vaughn Decals.

A Ribbed Side Models Phase 2 40' Short Rib Boxcar, one of 1750 of this class, This car was lettered with the mid 50's repaint of the original car. Car was painted boxcar red and lettering was supplied by the kit manufacturer.

    Thanks for looking!

    Actually, it's a sanding tower. :)
It was built a number of years ago and I have left it on the layout even tho it is rather crude.

A very "homey" feeling in your scene Candy. I can almost smell apple pie baking!

Candy, are there any overall images or a track plan of your layout?

Great stuff, everyone! I'm slowly making progress on my HO articulated covered hopper, CN 398000. Yesterday, I got the "skin" installed on half the car and today I've installed the other half. I've never done metal work before, so this was a bit of a gamble. Here's a photo showing the brass on half the car and the plastic formers and stiffeners on the other half:
