    Hello, all,

This week, I got the NMRA Pacific Coast Region, Coast Division
December 2009 Meet Report web page done. As always, really interesting
models and fun by all, check it out:

    http://www.pcrnmra.org/coast/contest/Contest_Dec_2009.shtml

On the above web page, you *have* to check out Steve Anderson's model
of his next model railroad. :) I hope all our layouts look as good
as his model of his layout!

This weekend I was busy with a La Belle narrow gauge box car kit.

So far it was fun.
I have still to rework the truck bolsters and install couplers.
    Then comes painting and decals.

One more from me this weekend. This is a Northeastern Scale Models kit that I started in 2002, but due to a move, the layout was dismantled, and the kit was never finished. I'm planning to use it on my current layout, so I'm finishing the kit. I'm also modifying it a bit, expanding the dock to accommodate a set of tracks. I finished the basic dock construction today, still have to put some trim pieces on, and scribe the planks into the top surface. Not bad, considering I spent a good chunk of the day doing an emergency toilet replacement! Don't ask....

I have this same kit that I have painted but not assembled. I'm afraid that it'll never look this good! Great work!

Thanks. I used both paint and chalk to get this look. The loading platform is painted with Railroad Tie Brown. Roof is painted with Grimy Black. The brick surfaces are painted with a wash of Concrete and windshield washer fluid. After all that, I sprayed the whole thing with Dull Cote. When that was dry, I brushed on liberal amounts of brown, gray, and white chalk, followed by a final coat of Dull Cote. I am VERY pleased with the results.

A couple of pictures of my new railroad station (see the JACALAR thread in N-Scale forum). This is an underground station, where my main line circles around and under my roundhouse and yard.

A couple years ago I sold an old N scale Bachmann 4-4-0 at the Swap meet at the San Diego Model Railroad Museum. I think I sold it for $5. I hope it was given the same amount of attention.
They're very popular for use in modelling the Disneyland Railroad's #1 and #2.

It was a beautiful sight outside the paint shop today when this "New" 4-4-0 rolled out with its brand new colors for the first time.

Lets first take a look back and see what this thing looked like after my first update of completing the new trucks:

    And now:

I'm very pleased with myself on this one. All that is left is to number and letter it. What number and road, I have no idea. Also that white window trim leaves some to be desired, so once I decide on the name, I'll replace the trim appropriately.

    Enough blabbing, more pictures!

I just love the flags. They are the perfect decoration for this steamer!

Are you going to leave it black or paint it in a classic set of colors?

I'm partial to the plain black color so, for now at least, she's pretty much finished. Eventually when I decal this engine (probably several months down the track, if that), I'll change the window trim color to something more suitable. If by then I find a flashy color scheme I like, I might go ahead and do it up. I consider my painting skills too novice for something of such complexity yet. :p

Oh, I don't dislike the black, I just don't expect it on an engine from the gilded age.

Wow, Mark! Now, I'm really going to have to dig mine out of the junk box and see if I can put her back together. Your'e came out very nice.
